Built after 1900, but of historic significance, were the buildings built by Reno-born Frederic Joseph DeLongchamps, the only architect to be designated as the official Nevada State Architect in 1919. What today is designated as the Capitol Complex is home to three unique DeLongchamps designs. Overall, Carson City has four of his designs still in use today:
Office of the Attorney General: 1920 - Corner of Carson & Musser Streets was once the Ormsby County Courthouse/Carson City Courthouse replacing an 1860 hotel. The city sold the building to the State in 1999. (NR). The twin building to the north was known as the Heroes Memorial Building built in 1921. This building was built as a memorial to Nevada soldiers who died in World War 1 and is part of the Attorney General complex. The more modernistic building sandwiched between the two Neo-Classical buildings once served as the Supreme Court of Nevada and now also serves as offices for the Attorney General.
Former Nevada Bell Telephone: 1930 – 320 N. Carson. Also formerly Carson City Justice Court, Jewelry Bench and today law offices. This design is unique to Carson City. n
