Business Briefs: Brummer achieves Southwest Region award

Mary Jo Brummer, with RE/MAX Realty Affiliates, has been presented with the certificate of excellence for finishing 10th in individual sales in October in all of Nevada.

TV advertisement topic of meeting

Spencer Williams, senior account manager at KOLO TV 8, will present “TV Advertising 101” at the Carson Area Marketing & PR Network’s meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Business Resource Innovation Center, 108 E. Proctor St.

Williams will talk about producing effective television ads that run not only on air, but online and on mobile devices.

The meeting is free, and non-members who are marketing, PR or journalism professionals may attend with advance notice. CAMPN is an association of marketers and public-relations executives who gather monthly to network and share resources, ideas and tips.

Boys & Girls Clubs announces officers

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada appointed its 2014 officers for the board of directors at the corporate board meeting held Jan. 16 at the club, on Russell Way. The board, which oversees strategic planning and fundraising for the organization, is made up of 28 businessmen and -women from Carson City and Carson Valley.

The 2014 officers are: President/CVO — Dr. Joseph McEllistrem, forensic psychologist; First Vice President — Johnny Olivas, New York Life Insurance; Second Vice President — Kurt Meyer, Carson City Parks & Recreation; Secretary — Cliff Sorensen, Campagni Automotive Group; Treasurer — Drew Aguilar, Carson Valley Accounting; Immediate Past President/CVO — Scott Robinson, Western Nevada Supply.
