Betty “JoAn” Metcalf, 75, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family. JoAn was born in

Caldwell, Kansas in 1938, and was raised by her parents Elvie and Betty Lasiter in Northern Oklahoma. She was raised on the family farm, and loved her childhood and being a cheerleader at Caldwell High School. It was in Caldwell, at the age of 14 that she first met the love of her life (her soul mate) Norman “Red”Metcalf and, ultimately married after high school. Their life together for the next 57years took them on a wonderful, and fulfilling journey.Together they had two great children, Tom (Rhonda) and Teresa (Kirk Lyon) and 5 Grandchildren, Brad, Lauren (Matt Stevens) and Sarah Metcalf and Sydney and Morgan Lyon. She loved spending time with her family, and it also included many friends and neighbors. Holidays always included a large, extended family, which JoAn loved. JoAn was the consummate “Mom” and grandmother to her family and many “adopted” friends. JoAn was an avid bowler, at one time carrying the highest female amateur average in Hawaii. She attended the Women’s National Bowling Conference for 26 years, representing Hawaii and later Nevada. A Celebration of Life will be held March 8th starting at noon at Carson Lanes, 4600 Snyder Ave, to bowl a game in her honor. A reception will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Eagles Wings Christian Fellowship, 150 E. Roland St. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a charity of your choice. FitzHenry’s Funeral Home is trusted with the arrangements.
