Strong and Silent

Unspoken words, carried on the wind

Smell of the cattle drive and dust

Redman chew in an old pickup truck

Cowboy boots covered in;

Everything you needed to know;

About a man born and raised,

By the Nevada Desert.

Sagebrush and passion and understanding;

Standing taller than pinyon pines

Sturdy like the fences that kept in the livestock;

And fenced in his thoughts,

But you still knew, in the silence.

If you knew Frederick you knew...

Love could be silent and unassuming

Poem written by Frederick’s Granddaughter, Tess
