Carson City history, western showman and more featured at Sierra Place

Sierra Place, 1111 W. College Parkway, is holding free events in October.

Western entertainer Sourdough Slim will combine vaudevillian and cowboy lore in his performance at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Mark McLaughlin will talk about the history of Lake Tahoe and the Comstock at 10 a.m. Oct. 6.

Mike Thomas will present Pathfinder of the West, a lecture about Kit Carson and John Fremont, at 10 a.m. Oct. 14.

Bob Nylen, author and curator of history at Nevada State Museum, will present a PowerPoint about the history of the Nevada Day Parade at 10 a.m. Oct. 20.
