John Joseph Achurra, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend made his peaceful transition to the Lord in the afternoon of July 29. His last days were surrounded by his loving family. John is survived by Norma, his wife of 64 years; his children, Ken (Kathy), Robert (Paula), Anna (Marty),and Dennis; his grandchildren, Marc, Mathew, Alicia, Stephen, Veronica, and Anthony; his siblings Bill and Victoria and his great

granddaughters Serenity, Jaylin and Jessica. He has been reunited in heaven with his daughter, Arlene and his parents, Joseph and Consuelo. John was born on March 14 1926 in Boise, Idaho. He moved to Fallon in 1931 and grew up in the Island District. John purchased his first farm in 1947 after returning to Fallon from his military service. He began courting Norma shorting thereafter and they were married on August 4, 1951. He spent his life in Fallon with Norma raising their 5 children and farming. John was very proud of his farm, high quality alfalfa hay, and his well fed cattle. His source of recreation was operating a tractor or baler and having coffee with his fellow Fallon farmers. He operated a custom haying and land leveling business around the Lahontan Valley. John was an excellent mechanic and took exceptional care of his equipment. In the winter months, John work for Petrolane Gas. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the Smith Family Funeral Home, 505 Rio Vista Dr. in Fallon. Viewing will precede the Rosary at 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fallon. Burial will follow in the Churchill County Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Patrick’s building fund or any charity of choice.
