The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents to be cautious of phone scams that are becoming more common in Douglas County. Residents have been receiving calls from people impersonating various agencies asking for money or information. Common scam calls include posers as an IRS agent, a representative from the gas or power company or a family member in jail, all asking for money before serious consequences occur.

If anyone receives these calls, the DCSO advises to hang up immediately and not give any money or information.
