There are still some tickets available for the concert with Rosco Bandana Saturday night in the Barkley Theatre at the Art Center.

The seven piece Americana ensemble is based in Gulfport, Mississippi, and, they are on tour in support of their debut album, “Time To Begin,” recently released on Hard Rock Records. The emerging band has played at numerous festivals and fairs including Lollapalooza, Yonder Mountain and Telluride.

Equal parts country, southern roots rock and Americana singer-songwriter pieces, their music has a broad appeal across genres. The band will hold a free and open-to-the-public conversation on their musical styles and influences at 3 p.m. in the Center’s Art Bar.

Tickets for the performance are $17 for CAC members, $20 for non-members and can be picked up at Jeff’s Copy Express, ITT @ NAS Fallon or by calling Churchill Arts at 775-423-1440. Doors to the show and the no-host Art Bar will open at 7 p.m. and the show will start at 8 p.m.

CAC will also open two new visual art exhibitions next month. The E.L. Wiegand Gallery will feature “But Wait ... There’s More,” ceramic and mixed-media artworks by well-known Reno artist, Joan Arrizabalaga and Virginia City artist, Edw Martinez.

The Classroom Gallery will feature new ceramic works with litho-type and photo transfers by Catherine Schmid-Maybach.

Both shows will open on April 11. There will be a panel discussion with the artists at 4 p.m. followed by a reception for the artists from 5 to 7 p.m. Both the panel discussion and reception are free and open-to-the-public.

On April 25, the Quebecois musical group, Le Vent du Nord, will bring their unique musical sounds to the Art Center. They fuse the sounds of old Celtic Quebec with a breath of fresh cosmopolitan air. The mix has garnered them two Canadian Grammys and won them Artist of the Year at the North American Folk Alliance.

We’ll have more information on these April events in the coming weeks.
