Thanksgiving offers a smorgasboard this week with a sprinkling of turkey meals, unsettled weather and closures.

American Legion: American Legion Post 16 will deliver Meals on Wheels dinners On Nov. 26 since the Senior Center will be closed. Volunteers wanting to deliver meals or serve should arrive at the hall, 90 N. Ada St., between 8:30-9 a.m.

The annual Thanksgiving dinner for the community is slated from 11 a.m-1 p.m.

Veterans of Foreign Wars: The annual Thanksgiving dinner, which is open to the community on Nov 26, is from 2-4 p.m. at the VFW Hall on 405 S. Taylor St.

The Elks Lodge on 90 W. Center St., will have a Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 26 for single sailors and military families at 3 p.m.

The Lahotnan Valley will see a 30 percent afternoon snow showers today with highs in the lower 40s and lows near 22.

The system begins to move out of the area on Thursday with partly cloudy skies and lows near 21.

Sunny skies, though, return to the region with the daytime temperatures dropping to 40 and morning lows going into the high teens.

Federal, state, city and county offices are closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Most government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Naval Air Station Fallon will be on its holiday schedule. The city of Fallon will have garbage pick up.

Churchill County School District and Oasis Academy classes will be off today through Friday. Students return on Monday.

Western Nevada College is open today but closed Thursday and Friday.

Financial institutions are closed Thursday but check with specific banks or credit unions for Friday hours.

The Maine Street and Pony Express post offices will be closed Thursday but open on Friday, and the Maine Street facility is open Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Regular mail delivery is on both days.
