Pillowcase burglar signals plea deal

A convicted armed robber implicated in last winter’s Pillowcase burglaries is scheduled to be arraigned after entering a plea deal in the case.

Tracey Lee Lock, 41, waived his preliminary hearing in East Fork Justice Court on Wednesday, according to defense attorney Derrick Lopez.

Lock was ordered to appear in Douglas County District Court on Sept. 28 for arraignment. East Fork Justice of the Peace Tom Perkins told him if he changed his mind about the plea agreement, he likely wouldn’t be returning to justice court.

Lock was transferred to Douglas County from Carson City last week. He’s being held on multiple burglary charges stemming from a series of break-ins in Douglas, Washoe Valley and Carson City.

Lock was one of a half dozen people arrested in February by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

Also facing charges in Douglas County is Travis Lieberwirth, 37, whose attorney is negotiating in several jurisdictions to resolve his charges. Lieberwirth is scheduled to return to Douglas County on Oct. 28.

The Pillowcase burglaries got their name because burglars took one from the scene of their break-ins to haul off the valuables.

The burglars would focus on jewelry, small electronics and other items that were easy to carry away.

Douglas County homes on Kingsbury Grade, East Valley Road, Lindsay Lane and Fuller Avenue were among those believed to be targeted by the burglars.

A break in the case occurred in a Foothill Road neighborhood when a gold Dodge Neon was spotted in the neighborhood.

According to documents filed in support of charges against the two men, Lieberwirth allegedly told investigators he was a lookout while Lock went into the houses.
