Area vocalists are sought to join The Carson Chamber Singers and The Carson City Symphony Chorus for their 2016-17 season.

The Carson Chamber Singers, conducted by Michael Langham, will begin rehearsals for its 32nd season at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 in Carson High School’s Choral Room, 1111 N. Saliman Road.

Founded in 1985 as the select choral group of the Carson City Symphony, the group performs a wide range of music, from sacred to Broadway. It has performed throughout Northern Nevada, in the Lake Tahoe area and in Sacramento, Calif., as well as with the Carson City Symphony and Reno Philharmonic Orchestra.

The Carson City Symphony Chorus was formed in 2012 to provide additional opportunities for amateur and volunteer professional vocalists, including high school and church choir members from throughout the area, to sing choral masterpieces with orchestra.

The Chorus performs with the Carson City Symphony in December and June in Carson City, and on July 4 in Genoa. It’s open to all singers, high school age through adults.

Carson Chamber Singers and Carson City Symphony Chorus are supported in part by public funds through a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, and by private donations.

Choristers who are interested in auditioning for the Carson Chamber Singers or joining the Carson City Symphony Chorus should contact Director Michael Langham at ccsingersdirector@gmail.com or call the Symphony at 775-883-4154.
