The eclectic musical ensemble, Banda Magda, will perform in the Barkley Theatre at 8 p.m. tomorrow night.

The band has developed a strong following in and around New York City where they are based. They are devoted to presenting mid-twentieth century pop classics in Technicolor arrangements. The songs range from a cover of Peggy Lee’s classic “Fever” to “Petit Fleur.”

On other songs you can feel cross-pollinated rhythms from around the globe—from Greek folk tunes to Samba and Brazilian beats—and they’ll discuss their musical styles and influences in a free conversation at the Center’s Art Bar at 3 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.

You can pick you tickets up at Jeff’s Copy Express on Maine Street, at ITT @ NAS, Fallon or by calling CAC at 775-423-1440. Tickets are $17 for CAC members and $20 for non-members.

The Churchill Arts Council’s 30th Anniversary “An Evening with the Arts” fundraising dinner and silent auction is coming up on March 5 at the Fallon Convention Center. This event raises funds to help insure that the Council is able to continue to bring the finest arts programs—performances, exhibitions, films and literary readings—to Fallon throughout the year.

In honor of the anniversary, this year’s theme is “Pearls and Pirates” and festive and/or pirate attire is encouraged. The evening’s meal will be catered by the Slanted Porch.

The menu includes a classic Caesar salad and seasonal vegetables, and your choice of an herb crusted filet mignon with a half Maine lobster tail, or roasted butternut squash cannelloni as a vegetarian option, with key lime pie for dessert.

The auction preview and no-host bar begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and the auction will conclude at 8:45 p.m.

$70 per person tickets include dinner, wine and admission to the auction. For $80 per person you also receive $20 worth of raffle tickets.

Seating for this social event of the season is very limited—only 30 tables of eight or 10 will be sold, so you should be sure and reserve your table early. For reservations or more information you can call Churchill Arts at 775-423-1440 or email charts@phonewave.net
