August 23, 1934 – April 28, 2016



nn Cecil Smiley, 81, of Roseburg, OR, passed away April 28, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center with his loving wife of 61 years, children and nephews at his side. He was born August 23, 1934, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa to John and Lulu (Buseman) Smiley. Glenn’s family moved to Carson City, NV, where he graduated from Carson High School and married his high school sweetheart, Rosalie Reiten. He worked for the Nevada National Guard until he moved to South Lake Tahoe and worked for the fire department for 28 years. Glenn and Rosalie enjoyed many years traveling, camping, teaching line dancing, riding steam trains, and playing cards. He was a member of the Model Railroad Club, Boat Club and Jeep Club. Glenn was a model husband, father, and a good friend to all – ready to help, tell a joke, and brighten the day with a warm smile. Survivors include his wife, Rosalie; daughter Suzanne and her husband Peter Gundelfinger of Gill, MA; daughter Rebecca Hart and her husband Chris of Woodfords, CA; son Richard and his wife Karolee of Sacramento, CA; son Michael of South Lake Tahoe, CA; grandchildren John Gundelfinger, Adam Hart, Erin Hart, Patrick Smiley, Daniel Smiley, Kayleigh Smiley, Aric Smiley, Jeremy Smiley, Morgan Smiley; three great grandchildren Ashley, Sierra and Trevor; and nephews Kenneth Benson of Eureka, NV and Jim Benson of Carson City, NV. A Memorial Service will be held on July 23rd at 2 PM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Carson City, NV followed by a Celebration of Life at 5030 Hells Bells Rd.
