Mar 27, 1928 - Apr 21, 2016

Florence Joyce Lopiccolo, long time resident of Carson City, NV and known affectionately to family and friends as “Dolly” passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016. She was born to Antonio and Liberta Rizio in San Jose, CA on March 27, 1928. Dolly was preceded in death by Carmelo (Mel) Lopiccolo, her loving husband of 65 years. Before her retirement, Dolly worked for 30 years in the grocery industry as a meat wrapper. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, family poker games, crafts, and was an avid bowler, and enjoyed bowling in both mixed and women’s leagues for many years. Entertaining family and friends was Dolly’s true passion and delight. She will always be remembered for her elaborate hors-d’oeuvre spreads, which usually left everyone too full for the main course - and lucky enough to be blessed with food to go. She loved to laugh, made others smile, and was the life of the party. Dolly’s vibrant spirit and boundless energy will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Dolly is survived by her 3 children, Debbie Bily-Nevin (Jerry), Mark Lopiccolo (Jenny), and Karen Staffen (Daryl); more than 30 grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, and leaves behind many loving relatives and friends. The family is especially appreciative of the care provided by the staff at Evergreen Ormsby Health and Rehabilitation Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Northern Nevada Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Foundation (www.alz.org). Arrangements are being handled by Fitzhenry’s in Carson City. A Celebration of Life for Dolly will be planned at a future date.
