This month’s presentation at the Churchill Economic Development Authority’s business council breakfast will look into the role of the county’s first responders.

The meeting begins Wednesday at 6:45 a.m. at Stockman’s Steakhouse.

Fallon Police Chief Kevin Gehman will discuss the role of his department and how it received reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, an agency that ensures strict police standards are being met.

The accreditation places the FPD among the top 1 percent of law enforcement agencies in the United States.

A representative from the Fallon/Churchill Volunteer Fire Department will discuss its ISO (Insurance Services Office) Class 1 rating. Fallon’s department was the first volunteer fire department in the United States to receive this rating. Additionally, the department answers about 400 fire and extrication calls each year.

Churchill County Sheriff Ben Trotter will present an update on the new Law Enforcement Center, which is scheduled to be completed by December. To attend the breakfast meeting, call CEDA at 775-423-8587 or email sara@cedaattracts.com by Tuesday.
