CCSD meets tonight to recognize math students, discuss contracts

The Churchill County School District Board of Trustees meets today at 6 p.m. in the Old High School auditorium (“The Pit”).

The board will recognize five Churchill County High School students who competed in the Northern Nevada Math Contest in Reno on Jan. 28.

Items for discussion and possible action include the following:

CCHS teachers Steve Johnson and Lynn Strasdin and their students will present information about the science program.

Educational Services’ Patty Fleming will discuss the Nevada Administrator Performance Framework tool and its use in administrative evaluations.

CCHS Principal Kevin Lords will present the school’s Greenwave Plan for Success proposal, which is to provide students with a solid foundation for life and success through college and career readiness.

CCHS teacher Ted Ott will report the plans for the Rio Vista property through 2018.

Business Services Director Phyllys Dowd will review the Early Retirement Incentive Program and possible approval of applications for early retirement.

The board will meet in a closed negotiations session with unrepresented central office personnel (Kimi Melendy, Phyllys Dowd, Derild Parsons and Lisa Bliss) in conjunction with contract renewals.

The board will review the terms of employment contracts for unrepresented central office personnel and may revise terms of their contracts including possible salary increases.

There will be a closed session to discuss negotiations and strategies regarding the Churchill County Administrators Association, Churchill County Education Association and the Nevada Classified School Employees Association.
