Community sports: Basketball clinic Saturday at Carson High

Capital City Hoops is putting on Saturday skill sessions starting Saturday at 10 a.m. at Morse Burley Gymnasium.

The clinic are being conducted by Carson basketball coach Jordan Glover, and are open to kids from 6 to 14 years old.

Kids 6 through 11 will participate from 10 to 11 a.m., and kids 12 through 14 will go from 11 to noon. The cost is $10 per session. The Saturday sessions will be for the rest of the winter and into the spring. Participants are also asked to bring their own basketball.

Annual tourney set

for Edgewood

The 31st annual Booster Club Golf Tournament benefiting Whittell and South Tahoe high schools, is set for May 5 and 6.

Interested parties may register as a single, twosome, threesome or foursome. Only mail entries are accepted. This is a non-refundable donation, and refunds only will be issued if Edgewood cancels the tournament because of weather.

The cost is $150 per player, or $275 if you want to play both days.

Silver State gymnasts

cap undefeated season

The Silver State Gymnastics Academy’s Xcel squad took first place at last weekend’s Deltchev Invitational over the weekend in Reno.

In the Xcel Junior B Division, Adriana Castillo was second on bars and first on vault, beam and floor en route to the all-around title. Kiera Windsor was third on beam, second on vault and second all-around. Haylee Butler was third on bars. In Xcel Junior C, Hayley Williams was first on vault and bars and second on beam en route to the all-around. Ali Maschke was first on floor, second on bars and third on beam. Regan Talkington was second on bars. Alyssa Mathies won the all-around in the Child Division after winning the bars, beam and floor.

In Level 4 competition, Brooklyn Gundy was second on floor and third on beam in the Junior Division. Tabby Thompson was first on vault, bars and floor en route to the all-around title in the Senior Division. In Level 7 juniors, Emily Lewis won beam, took second on bars and third in floor and all-around. In Level 7 seniors, Eviana McGowan won all-around after finishing second on bars and beam, and third in floor exercise. Eliana Hofer won beam and floor and was third in the all-around. Elle Liebendorfer was second on floor, third on vault and beam en route to second in all-around.
