August 17, 1946 – January 15, 2019
Longtime Fallon resident, retired Senior Chief Aviation Ordnanceman George Elder, USN, passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 15, 2019, with his family by his side.
George had a very successful naval career retiring from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of dedicated service in 1991.
George enjoyed living life to the fullest, fishing, throwing darts, shooting pool, crossword puzzles and spending time with his friends.
He relocated to Fallon, NV, where he had worked on weapons detachments, many times while on active duty to join the Conventional Ordnance Product Evaluation (COPE) team for many years until he returned to Oklahoma to be with family.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Martha Elder; and sister, Becky Smith.
George leaves many loving memories with his family, son, John Elder and wife Melody; sisters, Gloria Smart and Mary Jones; granddaughter, Stephanie Eycleshymer and fiancé, Eric Miller, grandson, Weston Elder, and great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Miller, as well as many friends from over the years.
His memorial services and burial were held at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Gibson, OK on February 1, 2019.
