Elementary schools in the Carson City School District will host individual school site welcome events for all transitioning preschoolers and incoming kindergarteners. The events are designed for students and parents to tour their new school, meet teachers and administrators and build on the fun and excitement about going to school.

“The transition into kindergarten is important to young learners in providing confidence and dispelling ‘first-day-of-school’ fears,” said assistant director of Student Support Services Christine Lenox. “We want to help them feel as welcome and comfortable as possible. If the new students know who their teacher may be, which hallway they need to travel down and where their classroom is, the tension and stress preceding the start of school subsides immensely.”

The events will offer raffle prizes and an opportunity to have any questions answered. Below are the school locations, dates and times of each event.

Fremont Elementary School, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Monday, May 20; Bordewich Bray Elementary School, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21; Empire Elementary School, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22; Fritsch Elementary School, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23; Mark Twain Elementary School, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Friday, May 24; Seeliger Elementary School, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Aug. 16.
