An NV Energy robocall announced it was cancelling a public safety outage due to changing weather conditions.
The call was received at around 4:50 p.m. Tuesday.

The Public Safety Outage Management event for Minden-Carson area remains possible today, Tuesday with a start time of between 1 and 4 p.m. The outage event is expected to last until 6 p.m., Aug. 18s.
During the PSOM event, NV Energy will open a drive-thru Customer Resource Center (CRC) at the Genoa Volunteer Fire Station, East Fork Station #3, located at 2298 Main Street, Genoa, NV 89441 until 8 p.m. on August 17 and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on August 18 or until power is restored. The CRC will offer charging devices, light snacks, water, ice, access to Wi-Fi and outage updates.

NV Energy is monitoring fire weather conditions in the Carson-Minden PSOM zone, which impacts some customers in Genoa, Carson CIty and Minden and a Public Safety Outage Management event is highly likely on today and ending on Wednesday, August 18 at 6 p.m. This outage will impact approximately 600 customers.

This timeframe includes the duration of the weather event and an estimate of how long it will take crews to inspect the lines for damage, vegetation or debris in order to begin safely restoring power. Please note that the restoration time may change based on weather conditions or if crews must make repairs to equipment.

PSOM is a key measure of defense to help protect the community and environment from wildfires. During a PSOM event, power is shut off for safety in order to help prevent power lines or debris blowing into power lines and other equipment from causing a wildfire when certain environmental conditions are met.
Impacted customers have been notified via phone, text and email messages. NV Energy will continue to monitor fire weather conditions and will provide regular updates on the status of the outage. Customers are encouraged to have an emergency plan in place. This PSOM event may be adjusted or cancelled if weather conditions change.
