Tomorrow is National Mutt Day, and Carson City is fur-tunate to have lots of opportunities to celebrate with and support the Nevada Humane Society.

Shelter representatives will host a Pet Palooza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Carson City Toyota, 2590 S. Carson St. on Saturday. They’re selling $5 rubber ducks as part of their Duck Race fundraiser. Each duck enters participants into a raffle for a new car or $10,000, donated by Carson City Toyota. The race ends Sept. 18.

Alongside rubber ducks, there will also be adoptable dogs and kittens available for folks who would prefer to support the shelter by taking home a lifelong friend.

Can’t make it to the Pet Palooza tomorrow? Ducks are available for purchase online at duckrace.com/reno.

The Carson City shelter is open every day 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a brief closing 2-3 p.m. for animal nap time. Duck sales and monetary donations are the best way to donate to the shelter, but for folks who prefer to donate goods, they’re in need of dry cat food and wet kitten food. (It’s been a big kitty season.)

For information about the adoptable and foster-able dogs featured here, or to find other ways to support the shelter, visit them at 549 Airport Road, or online at nevadahumanesociety.org.
