Nevada Humane Society’s Duck Race & Festival is swimming back for a 7th year with a goal to adopt 30,000 rubber ducks to benefit homeless pets.

Adopt a duck now then spend a day in Wingfield Park in Reno to cheer on your duck as they race down the Truckee River. The grand prize is a 2016 Toyota Corolla donated by Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota.

Lonely Duck, Quack Packs and other rubber duck adoption packages are available starting at $5. Ducks are available online or at the Nevada Humane Society shelter in both Reno and Carson City. In addition, ducks are available at a variety of community events, including farmer’s markets, Aces games and more.

The Duck Race & Festival is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21. Festivities include live entertainment, clowns, carnival games, vendors and refreshments. Adoptable dogs and cats from Nevada Humane Society will be on hand. The duck race is at 4 p.m. with winners announced shortly after. Winners do not need to be present.
