The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that occurred late last month in Silver Springs. So far, one driver is unidentified due to extensive burns.
The Nevada Highway Patrol continues to investigate a crash that occurred the morning of May 28 in Silver Springs and seeks information to identify the driver of one of the vehicles. NHP troopers responded to the fatal crash at U.S. Highway 95A and U.S. Highway 50. The NHP’s preliminary investigation shows that both a red 1998 Peterbilt semi tractor-trailer car hauler and a gray 2000 Honda Accord were traveling southbound on US-95A and approaching the roundabout with US-50. The driver of the Peterbilt was unable to slow his vehicle due to suspected mechanical failure, and the front of the Peterbilt struck the rear of the Honda. Both vehicles continued southbound and entered the raised decorative rock median of the roundabout. The NHP said both vehicles caught fire. The driver of the Honda, who is currently unidentified because of extensive burns, was pronounced dead on the scene.
