The Nevada Highway Patrol reports that a Nevada resident was targeted by an apparent scammer using the NHP Reno office number.
The caller said the person’s personal identifiable information had been compromised.
The victim hung up which officials say is the appropriate response.
Trooper Charles Caster said NHP will never call anyone claiming to be working for another agency or organization. He said Nevadans should never give out personal information over the phone. He said just hang up.
