Keeping our most fragile community members safe in their homes is the topic at the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. C.J. Manthe will introduce the club to a new non-profit in our area, Rebuilding Together Northern Nevada. Manthe is a founding member of the organization, which is a chapter of the national organization Rebuilding Together. Rebuilding Together Northern Nevada focuses on providing services such as home repairs and maintenance to allow the elderly, veterans and the disabled safely in their own homes.

"Rising costs and substandard housing conditions constantly threaten the culture and vibrance of our neighborhoods,” Manthe said. “Rebuilding Together's home and community work gives our neighbors an option they didn't have before - to remain safely in their homes and communities."

Anyone interested in learning more about the organization is invited to attend the meeting which takes place Tuesday, September 14 in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom. The meeting begins at noon with an optional lunch.

Rotarian Dan Dykes, who is also on the board of Rebuilding Together Northern Nevada says the organization fills a critical need, “Many elderly people just can’t afford the maintenance and upkeep on their homes and are forced to move.  Allowing them to age in their homes is very important to me personally and this organization allows me to do something about it.”
