Southern Nevada Girl Scout Troop 700 members spent the first day of their spring break touring Nevada’s Capitol in Carson City on Monday.
Lt. Gov. Lisa Burkhead helped arranged the tour. She has two daughters, Raquel and Sophia, in the Girl Scout program.

“This is the future. These are our leaders of the future, and I want them to become comfortable in their future offices,” she said.
Gov. Steve Sisolak made a brief appearance in the Capitol lobby to greet the troop and give each girl a commemorative coin.
Tour guide Woody Davis got some “ooh’s” and “ahh’s” from the audience with his dramatic reveals. The troop was particularly interested in the elk horn chair made for President Theodore Roosevelt when he visited Carson City in 1903, and the painting of 1911 Gov. Tasker Oddie. His eyes follow visitors when they walk up the stairs.
A few lucky girls even got to sit in the original Nevada Supreme Court chairs, while Davis pounded his hand against the bench and brought the court to order.
Just before the end of the tour, while they were exiting the small courtroom, a Scout mimicked Davis, pounding her fist like a gavel, to close the session.
