Greater Nevada Credit Union launched a campaign earlier this month titled Carson CARES, which recognized Carson City School District employees who exemplified positivity in school and made a difference in their school community.

GNCU awarded five grand prizes where winners received a $500 donation for their classroom or program as well as a $100 gift certificate or gift card to their favorite local restaurant. Additionally, out of all the nominees, one individual was selected in a random drawing to win a hosted pizza party for their classroom or team, valued up to $400.

More than 85 nominations were submitted. Winners include the following:

• Carson Middle School counselor Jeremy Batten;

• Carson Middle School Spanish teacher Janelle Kaufer;

• Carson High School NJROTC Cmdr. Dan Meyer;

• Carson High School special education teacher Brenda Ramirez, the only Spanish-speaking special ed teacher at CHS;

• Seeliger Elementary School first grade teacher Socorro Vega.

Carson Middle School Principal Amy Robinson also was awarded a lunch party worth $400 for her school.

School employees were able to nominate multiple peers.
