Susan Brown, Nevada’s budget director, will officially retire July 19.
Brown was appointed to the post by Gov. Steve Sisolak after he took office. Before that she was the chief deputy in the office that manages Nevada’s state budget.
Brown began her career with the state in 1997. She has worked in multiple state agencies including industrial insurance, public safety and the Department of Business and Industry.
She moved to the budget office in 2009 and was named deputy budget director in 2018.
Sisolak said Brown helped lead the state through some of the most challenging times during the pandemic.
Brown said she and her husband plan to do a lot of traveling once she is retired.
Sisolak announced that Brown will be succeeded by Amy Stephenson, currently the deputy director of healthcare services at the Nevada Department of Veterans Services.
Stephenson has over two decades of state service in the DMV, health and human services, public safety and wildlife department.
