Fishing in Tahoe. Fishing at Lake Tahoe is better this spring than was ever known before. Judge A.B. Dibble, of Grass Valley, and Charles Mitchell, of the Grass Valley Union, caught 260 fine large trout there Tuesday, aggregating about 300 pounds in weight in five and a half hours of fishing. It is the largest catch ever made in that length of time on the lake.

The County Commissioners have under consideration a plan to repair the old King’s Canyon grade as far as the summit, so that the road may be used by parties desiring to visit Lake Tahoe. The King’s Canyon Road is one of the most attractive and it travels through a part of the county that is not only beautiful but gives a stranger an opportunity to see a big scope of this section and valleys beyond.

John Robinson’s great circus is ending its way out here from the east and will likely show here next month. A week or two before the arrival here of this circus the Indians hereabouts will become alarmingly industrious so as to earn enough money with which to buy tickets. There is nothing like a circus to stimulate a Washoe Indian to labor; the necessities of life are a secondary consideration.

From the Silver State: It is a fact noticed by many of our citizens that a tramp who alights from his dangerous seat on the brake beam of a freight train, and for the first time sets foot in the town, will pass by several houses in his search for grub, and walk direct to a store or residence where some of the fraternity who preceded him had been kindly treated. This has been done so often that the opinion has prevailed that they post each other on the road in regard to places to get something to eat. The letter “H” on the gate post means that the residents will give the caller a handful of grub; “S” that he will get a seat at the table; “SM” that he will get a square meal; and “GB” that he will get the grand bounce.
