Volunteers from American Legion Post 16 serve breakfast Sunday morning to 27 juniors from southern Nevada who were traveling to Reno for Boys State.

Twenty-seven juniors from different high schools in southern Nevada stopped at the American Legion Post 16 in Fallon for breakfast on Sunday before they checked in at the University of Nevada, Reno for their week-long Nevada Boys State program.

Nevada Boys State will prepare these students for success in life.

Volunteers began the day at 3:30 a.m. to ensure the delegates had a good meal prior to checking in at UNR. By attending Boys’ State, they will be taking a break from normal life to learn new and useful skills to benefit them for the rest of their life. The week provides them an opportunity to create lifelong friendships, have fun and achieve future success.


Volunteers included Department of Nevada 1st Vice Commander Valerie Scheuering, Post 16 Commander Jack Lazenby, Post 16 1st Vice Commander Craig Butcher, Post 16 2nd Vice Commander Paul "Pip" Valentin, Post 16 Chaplain Mike Hall, Post 16 Legionnaire Josh Smith, Post 16 Auxiliary 1st Vice President Leah Lazenby, Post 16 Auxiliary Chaplain Rusty Hall and Michelle Diedrichsen.
