Carson City’s greenUP! program will be the topic at Tuesday’s Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. greenUP! President Donna Walden will discuss “Green Box to Go” in Carson City’s Green Dining District.
The meeting takes place at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom. The public is invited.
The program helps reduce the amount of single use plastic in participating downtown restaurants. Diners can purchase reusable to-go containers for a one-time fee, return them to a designated location and get a token to use the next time they dine with a restaurant in the program.
“For the consumer, it is an accessible, affordable way to participate in a community-driven environmental project,” said Walden.
Walden will also present on the statewide Nevada Green Business Program and Network.
greenUP! is a nonprofit that provides environmental education for businesses.
