Author and photographer Stephen H. Provost will appear at Mark Twain Days in Carson City on the weekend of April 21 to 23 to meet residents and sign his books.

Provost is the author of more than 45 books, including “Mark Twain’s Nevada: Samuel Clemens in the Silver State.” Chapters detail Twain’s time in places like Carson City, Virginia City, Washoe Valley and Dayton; prospecting for gold in Unionville and Aurora; and comically trying to start a timber business on the shores of Lake Tahoe (which he preferred to call Lake Bigler).

A former editor, reporter, and columnist with more than 30 years of experience at daily newspapers, Provost is a Carson City resident who has written extensively about 20th century history. All his books will be available at Mark Twain Days, along with a selection of his other works, including his works of fiction.

Provost will be joined at Mark Twain Days by his fiancée, Sharon Stora, who will have her handcrafted dreamcatchers for sale, including her “Steamcatchers” — steampunk-inspired décor created with metal gears.
