After falling in its home opener, the Greenwave girls basketball team will look to add to its three-game winning streak when South Tahoe comes to Fallon on Friday.

Fallon (7-2) opened last week with a big 38-35 win over Reed (4A) on the road before rolling past Hug, 56-11, on Friday in Reno and Sparks, 55-14, on Saturday at the Elmo Dericco Gymnasium.

Fallon hosts South Tahoe at 3 p.m. on Friday to conclude its crossover schedule before traveling to Henderson next week for a four-day tournament. The Wave opens the 3A East season Jan. 5 at home against Elko.

In Fallon’s 38-35 win over Reed last week, sophomore Jada Anastasio led the team with 14 points and four steals, and Janessa Bettencourt, Kortnie Simper and Raegan Johnson each scored four points. Jessalyn Lewis, Karlie Simper, Vernita Fillmore and Dylan Faught each added three points. Bettencourt led the team in rebounding with eight, Fought had six, and Karlie Simper, Madasyn Moyle and Johnson each added five.

Two players scored in double figures against Hug with Anastasio leading the team with 15 points and Simper adding 11 as both combined to shoot above 50 percent from the floor. Fillmore scored seven points, and Johnson and Moyle each had six.

Bettencourt led the team in rebounding with eight, Fillmore had seven rebounds and Johnson grabbed six boards. Karlie Simper led the team with seven steals and her sister, Kortnie, had six and Lewis added five. Johnson had two blocks.

For the third game in a row, Anastasio led the team in scoring, finishing with 18 points against Sparks to go with a team-high four assists and six steals. Karlie Simper recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Bettencourt scored seven points and finished with nine rebounds. Moyle scored six points and Johnson added four, while Brynlee Nichols had seven rebounds and Johnson had six. Johnson and Simper also had three steals apiece.
