We hope our students and staff have enjoyed their winter vacation and that they used this time to relax, unwind, and settle into a safe, restful, and well-deserved break.

The holiday season is a time for togetherness and joy, but we also understand it can sometimes bring unwelcome guests, like stress and grief. Some of us may be experiencing the holidays without a loved one. Some of us may be balancing endless to-do lists from shopping to entertaining. While we each celebrate this season’s joys, it’s important to stay mindful, acknowledge our feelings, and reach out for help if needed.

Churchill County School District has partnered with Care Solace to support the well-being of our community. The Care Solace service is available at no cost to Churchill County School District students, staff, and their families.

"We are proud to support Churchill County School District in prioritizing the well-being of its school community by providing timely access to mental health care and substance use treatment services,” said Chad Castruita, founder, and CEO of Care Solace.

If our students, staff, or any of their family members are looking for help with mental health or substance use, Care Solace can help them quickly find treatment options matched to their needs, regardless of the circumstance. This is a complimentary and confidential care coordination service provided by Churchill County School District.

“Our students, families, and staff are experiencing significant levels of need for mental health support and assistance that we have not seen before. Partnering with Care Solace to help individuals navigate insurance needs and provider schedules is a win for our entire community,” said Superintendent Dr. Summer Stephens. “This work with Care Solace ensures that we are meeting our second strategic theme of developing the whole person and what that requires to bring that to fruition.”

About ParentGuidance.org

We encourage our parents and guardians to check out https://ParentGuidance.org where they can access on-demand virtual courses, professional support, and a safe community to learn how to support their children and get answers to mental health questions.

There are courses on anxiety, depression, self-worth, grief and loss, suicidal ideation, and other mental health concerns. All courses are created by therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other certified mental health practitioners. There is even a portal where parents can "Ask a Therapist" their tough questions, as well as see questions and answers from other parents. The Cook Center for Human Connection has made these resources available to help increase hope in a time of continuing uncertainty and growing mental health concerns.

There are good people in our community working to provide solutions and help for those who are struggling. If you or anyone you know is in a mental health emergency, reach out immediately to the suicide prevention lifeline here: 1-800-273-TALK (8255), text HOME to 741741 or dial 9-8-8 to connect with the National Suicide Hotline

Kaitlin Ritchie is public information officer for the Churchill County School District.
