Welcome-to-school events slated for early August

Information for the upcoming school year was released during a recent meeting of the Churchill County Board of School Trustees.

The first day of school for Churchill County School District students is Monday, Aug. 14. Northside Early Learning Center begins Aug. 21.

Lahontan Elementary School will host a first grade “Meet and Greet” Friday, Aug. 11 from 1:30–3:30 p.m. and a first grade “Back to School Night” on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 5:30 p.m.

E.C. Best Elementary School will hold its “Back to School Night” Wednesday, Aug. 9 beginning at 4 p.m.

“Back to School Night” for Numa Elementary School’s fourth grade students is Thursday, Aug. 10 from 5:30–7 p.m. Fifth grade students at Numa will have their “Back to School Night” on Wednesday, Aug. 16 from 5-6 p.m.

The Churchill County Middle School “Welcome to School” event is Wednesday, Aug. 9 from 5-7 p.m. and a “Back to School Night” is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 31 from 5-7 p.m.

Churchill County High School’s kick-off event and community career fair is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Rafter 3C Arena.

Teacher assignments for kindergarten through fifth grade will be available Aug. 5 through Infinite Campus.

CCSD has also teamed up with Stopfinder for the 2023-24 academic year to bring school bus information directly to parents’ smartphones.

From the stopfinder.com website, “Stopfinder is the all-in-one parent engagement app designed by parents for parents to keep you in the know. Receive bus location (ETA and Geo Alerts available) and messages, updates and alerts in real-time, send forms and other information.”

Stopfinder registration will begin the first week of August via invitation by email. Parents should log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and update their email address.
