Walt wins conference title in freshman season

Carson High alumna Gracie Walt has quickly joined made an impression at the College of Idaho, playing in 15 games with the women’s soccer team as a freshman.

Walt, who has started four times, tallied a goal and an assist while logging 569 minutes played from her left back position.

The Yotes, who ended the year ranked No. 16 in the country, were 18-2-2 this fall and put together a perfect 12-0 record in conference games.

Walt and company went on to win the Cascade Conference championship after beating Northwest on penalty kicks.

The Yotes’ season came to an end with a first-round loss in the NAIA Championships to Keiser.


Sever wraps up junior cross country season at Bryan College

Carson High product Zach Sever finished his junior season competing with the Bryan College cross country team.

Sever’s final race this season came in Knoxville, Tenn., where he competed at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships.

As a team, the Lions took third and had two individual qualifiers for the NAIA cross country championships that took place last weekend.

Sever was 22nd overall in 25:21, running an average mile of 5:12, which was his quickest this fall.

Ross, Swain finish football season at Feather River College

Douglas High graduate Gavin Ross recorded 20 tackles over eight games played at linebacker at Feather River College this fall.

Ross and the Golden Eagles put together a 3-7 record.

Fellow Tiger alumni Cam Swain recorded one catch for 14 yards this fall with the Golden Eagles.


Rothschild getting plenty of action with Arcadia volleyball

Chana Rothschild finished her freshman season on the women’s volleyball team at Arcadia University.

Rothschild appeared in 24 matches this season while getting the starting nod 17 times.

Over the course of 76 sets played, the freshman had 87 kills and 43 blocks from her middle blocker position.

Arcadia went 12-17 this fall before losing to second-seeded Lebanon Valley College in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom Championships in four sets.

Avina, Buckley conclude freshman seasons with Sierra College football

Two Carson High alums finished their freshman campaigns with Sierra College football this fall.

Isaac Avina served as the team’s punter, where he averaged 36.1 yards per boot with 10 of his 48 punts finishing inside the 20.

His season long was a 53-yard punt.

Fellow freshman Denton Buckley recorded three tackles at defensive back in his first season with the Wolverines.
