Douglas High cross country was led by Luke Davis’ 10th place finish at the Nevada Union Invite last weekend. Davis ran 17:46.
Dennis Jorgensen was 32nd for the Tigers in 19:12 while Sage Spencer was 38th in 19:30. Joel Nord was next to cross the line, taking 51st of the 110 participants.
On the girls side, sophomore Lucy Nord and junior Ayla Nelson posted identical times of 22:10 with Nord getting the edge in results, taking 23rd.
Logan Axtell and Niza Barton were 34th and 35th, respectively, for the Tigers.
Douglas boys tennis can’t get around Reno, Manogue
The Douglas High boys tennis team fell to Reno and Bishop Manogue last week by the same score in each match, 12-6.
The Tigers secured five points in singles, three of which came from Kolten Brown.
Drew Fehskens and Bennett Schoenemann added a point each.
Abram Millward and David Alexander tacked on one final point in doubles by a 7-5 result.
It was a similar story against Bishop Manogue as Brown snagged two of his three singles matches.
Fehskens added two wins to his resume while Schoenemann won the fifth point for the Tigers in singles.
Brody Fontenot and Bryce Townsend won their doubles match, 6-4.
Girls tennis falls to Manogue, Reno
Douglas High girls tennis fell to 2-2 on the season after losing to Bishop Manogue and Reno last week by scores of 15-3 in both contests.
In doubles Alexis Hyde and Ava Gildea picked up a 6-4 win while Hannah Johnson and Jasmine Shoemaker also scraped together a 6-4 victory.
The lone singles win against the Huskies came from Annika Wertz by a 6-3 final.
Wertz took the only singles point against the Miners as well, winning a set 6-4.
Hyde and Gildea picked up another point in doubles while Kylie Girdner and Charlotte Bonar added the final point in a tiebreaker.
