Sierra Lutheran High School sophomore Anton Granata took top honors at the Rotary Club of Carson City’s annual Youth Music contest.

Granata, who plays bass guitar, performed a combination of 13 songs ranging from Bach, the Red Hot Chili Peppers to his own compositions. Granata plans to study aerospace engineering at UNR after high school.

Carson High School student and piano player Asher Cranston, home school student and guitar player Asa Morway, and Carson High student and cello player Luna Arredondo also took home awards. All of the winning students received cash prizes.

The Rotary Club of Carson City hosts the competition to encourage young musicians to pursue their musical aspirations and to provide a way for them to showcase their talent.
