This week, the senior in the spotlight is Jacob Budd. Budd is an excellent student and member of the Carson High School and Carson City community. He is dedicated to his studies and improving the lives of those around him.
Budd has excelled in school from a young age. Throughout middle and high school, he has maintained a 4.0 grade point average. He will graduate with more than a 5.0. He has continuously challenged himself by taking the most rigorous courses Carson High School has to offer.
As a member of the Carson High School community, Jacob participated in several activities. He was a four-year tennis player, acting as team captain in the 2023 season. He has been part of National Honor Society the past two years, serving as secretary during the 2023-24 school year. Budd also has served as a Blue Crew member, mentoring incoming freshmen and new students for the past three years.
Outside of school, Budd is an active member of his church and Boy Scouts of America. Both organizations have given him the opportunity to give back to the community in a meaningful way. Through his church, Budd donates time working with Toys for Tots and local food drives. With scouts, he earned his Eagle Scout rank with his project at the Carson River Park, where he worked to clean up the park and update the signs and tables.
Budd has big plans for his future. He will head to Utah this fall to begin his college career at Brigham Young University. He is unsure of what he wants to study but has been inspired by Mr. Jason Macy at CHS and is leaning toward literature. He plans to serve in a mission after his first semester of college. Carson High School is proud of Jacob and can’t wait to see what his future holds. Good luck, Jacob!
