Wet weekend, possibly snow, forecast for Carson City

Spring may have officially started but the National Weather Service forecast for Carson City looks more like winter.

According to the forecast posted at weather.gov, there is a chance of snow through late next week and this weekend likely will be wet and cool, with snow levels Saturday morning falling to 4,900 feet.

The heaviest rain and snow is expected after midnight Friday through Saturday morning, though little snow accumulation is expected.

THE FORECAST

FRIDAY: A 30 percent chance of rain after 5 p.m. Snow level 6,300 feet rising to 7,300 feet in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 62. Breezy, with a southwest wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Rain likely before 2 a.m., then rain and snow likely. Snow level 7,300 feet lowering to 4,900 feet after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

SATURDAY: A chance of snow before 2 p.m., then a chance of rain showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 49. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

SATURDAY NIGHT: A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 8 p.m., then a slight chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

SUNDAY: A chance of snow before 2 p.m., then a chance of rain showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 49. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

MONDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 52.
