The Carson City School Board District 7 race was still headed to the June 11 primary as of Tuesday after one candidate, Jeanette Bonaldi, announced she was withdrawing.

Clerk-Recorder Scott Hoen confirmed that Bonaldi had withdrawn by the deadline, which he said was Tuesday, and that she would be removed from the primary ballot.

Bonaldi is the director of Bella Salon and Spa off College Parkway. In a statement to the Appeal, she said she was withdrawing from the race after serious consideration concluding,

“I would not be able to give it my best shot because I still run a business full-time.”
“Seems to me we have some good candidates,” Bonaldi said. “I will get behind them and do my best to support them.”

With three remaining candidates, the District 7 seat will still go to the primary. The top two vote-earners there will go to the general election in November unless one candidate wins more than 50 percent of the vote in the primary contest.

District 7 is currently represented by Carson City School Board President Joe Cacioppo, who is termed out. The remaining candidates for the seat are John Henley, Michelle Pedersen and Joy Trushenski.

Rebecca Roberts filed for Carson City School Board District 2, unopposed. Current trustee Laurel Crossman is termed out.

Two filed for Carson City School Board District 5 including incumbent Mike Walker, who is seeking reelection for a third term. Walker will go to the general election in November with challenger Ashliee Saucedo.
