Track: Greenwave’s Elks meet hits 49 years

The Greenwave track and field team hosted the 49th annual Elks Invitational on Saturday at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex.

Fallon finished ninth in the boys division and 14th in the girls division on Saturday, and 10th in the JV boys division on Friday.

The following results are top-10 finishes, and season and personal bests from the Greenwave:


SPRINTS

Seniors Braden Hendrix, Dayton Steffens and Cesar Gonzalez Ledesma ran personal-bests in the 100 meters, finishing the race in 12.43, 12.44 and 12.60 seconds. Junior Edwin Ugalde finished fifth in the 400 in 53.79, a personal best, and freshmen Adan Roman Montes (58.96) and William James Lofthouse (59.83), and sophomore Justin McArthur (1:02.91) each had personal bests.

Senior Jessalyn Lewis finished sixth in the 100 with a season-best 13.95, and freshman Lillian Souza finished in 14.79. Freshman Tommie Fitzer, and juniors Nadia Basurto and Kaelyn Hudgens had personal-best times of 31.63, 33.22 and 40.32 in the 200. Fitzer also had a personal-best 1:12.43 in the 400.


DISTANCE

Freshmen Leojro Chavez and Arad Duenas each broke their own records in the 800 with times of 2 minutes, 31.08 seconds and 2:33.48. Junior Tyler Huckaby, senior Mattia Pooli and freshman Angel Quezeda Cabrera each had personal-best times of 5:41.22, 6:14.68 and 6:17.40 in the 1,600. Senior Edmond Allyn ran a season-best 12:09.08 to finish eighth in the 3,200.

Sophomore Jeana Lee ran a personal-best 3:18.11 in the 800.


HURDLES

Freshman Avery DeAloia had a personal-best 19.38 in the 110 hurdles, while a pair of sophomores broke records in the 300 hurdles. Joe Dahl ran a 49.60 followed by Maximillion Dahl in 57.62.

Senior Sofia Basurto ran a personal-best 21.11 in the 100 hurdles followed by freshman Karmen Alcantar with a personal-best 21.49. Lee ran a personal-best 1:02.45 in the 300 hurdles followed by Nadia Basurto and a personal-best of 1:06.40.


RELAYS

All four boys relay teams finished in the top six with the 4x100 team taking fourth in 46.67. The 4x200 and 4x800 teams finished fifth in 1:39.22 and 9:33.57, while the 4x400 team was sixth in 3:52.66. The 4x100 team included Steffens, Hendrix, sophomore Bransyn Wright and freshman Nathaniel Bianchi, while the 4x200 team consisted of Bianchi, Ledesma, junior Edwin Ugalde and sophomore Dax McCourtney. The 4x400 team included Wright, Ugalde, Lofthouse and freshman Adan Roman Montes, and the 4x800 included Allyn, Lofthouse, junior Uriel Romero-Montes and freshman Jarret Ugalde Torres.


THROWS

Senior Jacob Sorenson used a season-record throw of 109 feet to finish seventh in the discus. Senior Sebastian Escartin had a personal-best throw of 82-2 in the discus, while freshman Garret Helton and sophomore Joseph Romero had personal bests of 34-3 and 32-7.5 in the shot put.


JUMPS

Wright finished third in the high jump with a mark of 6 feet, followed by senior Kaeden Simpson finished eighth at 5-4. Freshman Jaeshon Pearson finished eighth in the triple jump at 36-0.5 followed by freshman Kenyon Wilson in 10th at 33-11, a personal best. Senior Jaiden McFadden and freshman Dion Gocong had personal bests of 17-2 and 15-9.75 in the long jump.
Jessalyn Lewis won both the long and triple jumps with a personal-best 35-0.25 in the triple and season-best 15-6 in the long. Junior Kaelyn Hudgens had a personal-best 10-10.5 in the long.


POLE VAULT

Allyn finished eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 10 feet followed by McFadden in ninth with a season-best 9 feet and Maxmillion Dahl in 10th at 8-6. Pooli had a personal-best of 8 feet.
