A free, 3-hour, cross country ski tour by the light of the full moon will be offered on Jan. 6 at Donner Memorial State Park, weather permitting.

The tour will be led by park rangers with the California State Park System.

The ski tour will begin at 7 p.m. at the Emigrant Trail Museum parking lot.

Donner Memorial State Park is located at the east edge of Donner Lake, just west of Truckee, Calif., about 45 miles from Carson City.

This is an easy two-mile ski trek.

Enjoy a warm fire and views of Donner Lake and it's surroundings.

Cross country skis only - no snowshoes.

Participants are requested to bring their own cross country ski equipment (no snowshoes), snacks, drinks and to wear layered clothing for variable weather conditions.

The tour will be canceled if the moon is obscured by clouds.
