A free, 2-hour "Donner Camp History Tour" for snowshoers only is being offered on Sunday. It will be led by park rangers with the California State Park System.

The outing will begin at Donner Memorial State Park, which is located at the east edge of Donner Lake. The lake is just west of Truckee, Calif., about 45 miles from Carson City.

Participants are requested to meet at 10 a.m. at the Donner Memorial State Park Museum.

The degree of difficulty is rated as "easy," with a duration of about two hours.

You will be snowshoeing to historic sites near the museum. Then, you will drive your car approximately five miles to U.S. Forest Service historic sites at the Alder Creek picnic area.

Participants are requested to provide their own snowshoes, warm boots and to wear layered clothing for variable weather.
