Letter: Dog loss is tragic, but leash or fence helps

I am responding to Carlotta Angel's letter: I am truly sorry about the loss of your beloved dog, Zyler. I commend you for rescuing him from an abusive home and giving him a happy life.

And yes, the person who hit him sounds heartless and cruel. However, you need to take partial responsibility for this terrible incident. What was your dog doing in the street in the first place. Don't you know about the leash law here in Carson City? Responsible pet owners have fences in which to keep their animals and they make sure that's where they stay.

Ms. Angel stated that the people at Animal Control said "It's no big deal. It happens all the time." -- or something to that effect. I believe that they do care very much and they get tired of it happening all the time.
