A Carson City 24-year-old has been jailed on charges he raped a woman Christmas Eve.

Pedro Molina Perez, a salesman, is accused of forcing his way into a home on Jeanell Drive about 3 a.m. Dec. 24. Sheriff's investigators say he sexually assaulted the woman resident. He was arrested later in the day, charged with sexual assault and home invasion.

Justice of the Peace Robey Willis set his bail at $75,000 and ordered a preliminary hearing in the case at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 11.

Perez could face life in prison if convicted of sexual assault.

He remains in the Carson City jail.
