Obituary: Morris Skupsky

A funeral for Morris Skupsky, 92, a Gardnerville resident for the past year, will be at 11 a.m. today at FitzHenry's Funeral Home with Rabbi Joel Dobin of the North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation conducting.

Mr. Skupsky died Jan. 21, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1907, in New York City, N.Y., to Benjamin and Mary Shapiro Skupsky.

Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Mr. Skupsky was an employee for Lamport Textiles in New York City for 43 years. He also worked for Robinson's Department Store in Santa Barbara for 10 years. He was a member of the Thomas Jefferson Lodge 414 of the Knights of Pythias in Brooklyn, N.Y., and he was honored April 11, 1942. He was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons in New York City. He loved working in his garden in Santa Barbara.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gussie, in Carson City in December 1998.

Among his survivors are his son, Arthur Roberts, of Minden; daughter, Sara Mae La France, of Incline Village; brother, Charlie, of Miami, Fla.; sister, Anna of New Jersey; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at Hebrew Cemetery in Reno.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
