A funeral service for Madeline Ruth Forster will be at noon today at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.

A viewing will be at 11:30 a.m. today at St. Gall.

Mrs. Forster died July 28, 2004, at Carson Valley Residential Care Center. She was born Aug. 26, 1918, in New York City, N.Y. to Harry A. and Magdalena Schmitt Guiremand.

Mrs. Forster moved to Fort Morgan, Colo., when she was 3 and later moved to San Diego and San Pedro, Calif., settling in Tujunga, Calif., with her family. She lived there for 55 years. She moved to Minden in the 1980s.

She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes and the Altar Society Legion of Mary. She was a Roman Catholic.

She was a graduate of San Fernando High School and the Glendale Business College in California.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Joseph Forster in 1994 and brothers Bill, Harry and Robert and a sister Barbara Hoff.

Among her survivors are a daughter Madeline Miller of Santa Fe, N.M.; sons Michael and Patrick of Gardnerville, Daniel of Minden, and Peter of Folsom, Calif.; grandchildren Erin Bonk, Dan and Ryan Miller, Kristin Forster, Mark Forster and Shane Forster; and great-grandchildren Colin and Nora Bonk.

Burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery on Friday.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
