A Rosary and memorial service for Emma Gibbons, a Gardnerville resident for the past 18 years, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gall Catholic Church.

Mrs. Gibbons died Nov. 29, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born in Lowell, Mass., to Frank and Mary.

The family moved to Portugal, then when her parents died, she moved back to Massachusetts to live with her grandmother.

She attended schools in both Massachusetts and Portugal.

Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in San Leandro, Calif., for 22 years.

Mrs. Gibbons worked as a mill worker for many years. She was an excellent seamstress, had a green thumb and enjoyed spending time with her family, her Sunday lunch and shopping with her daughter. She was a Roman Catholic.

Among her survivors are her husband of 53 years, Greg; daughter and son-in-law Ann and John Parra; grandsons Matthew Gibbons Parra and Alexander Gibbons Parra, all of Gardnerville; sister Delores Sousa of San Leandro and an aunt Eva Fariz of Nashua, N.H.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
