A funeral service for Ona G. Cooksey, 89, a Carson City resident for the past two years, will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Mrs. Cooksey died Dec. 13, 2003, at Evergreen Mountain View Care Center. She was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Waco, Texas, to Roland B. and Jennie Simmons Cooksey.

Mrs. Cooksey worked for the Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System and for a county commissioner that issued commodities. During World War II, she worked on instruments for the U.S. Army Air Corps at Tinken Field near Oklahoma City. She was a Past Grand Noble of Rebekahs in Mounds, Okla., and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Among her survivors are her sister, Thelma Angelo; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Jean Cooksey of Carson City; six nephews; one niece; four great-nephews; and six great-nieces.

Burial will be in Beggs Cemetery in Beggs, Okla.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
